| IN DREAMS (Region 2, subtitles in Japanese and English)  !Claire lives in a small town in countryside together with her husband Paul and daughter Rebecca and has a weird dream that a guy takes a little girl away. She has the same dream again and again, Paul goes to police and talks about it, they don't take it seriously.. After a play of Snow White, Rebecca is missing. She was found dead in a reservior. That dream is about her. Claire despairs and drives a car into the reservior, and she's saved. She keeps having another weird dreams, she meets a psychiatrist Dr. Silverman. Claire goes home because Paul wants to take her home, she has the weird dreams even she is awake. She cuts her wrists. Her dog which was missing in the afternoon comes to her hospital. She follows the dog and rushes into heavy traffic on the road, it causes a big car accident. The dog is gone, and Dr. Silverman decides to gets her into mental hospital. Claire insists that she has a dream of her husband being killed in a hotel room. Paul gets a phone call to let him know his dog is at a hotel and goes there, when he finds the dog somebody pricks his eye and kills him. Claire gets to know that the guy's name is Vivian and he was in the hospital she stays when he was a child. She tries to control Vivian in her dream. Dr. Silverman who didn't believe what Claire talks about checks old records at the hospital, there's a medical record of Vivian. Claire behaves the same (except murder) as Vivian in her dream. Vivian kills a nurse and wears a nurse uniform and make-up, he deceives a security guard and lets the guard drive the reservior. Claire threatens a security guard and tells him to tell Dr. Silverman to go to the hotel where her husband was killed. Police gets to know what Claire is talking about is real and she's in danger. Claire finally meets Vivian. Vivian was abused and abandoned, wanted a family. He chooses Claire because she has phychic dreams. Vivian invites her to his "house". There is a girl who was in Claire's dream. Claire lets the girl escape and confronts Vivian. She goes through the woods and comes to a dam. She screams to a sniper on a helicopter to shoot, she and Vivian, both of them falls into water. Rebecca takes Claire.....Vivian is not passed the death sentence because he's insane, he gets held in a secure mental facility..... |
It's described as "Screenplay: Neil Jordan, Bruce Robinson". Actually Bruce wrote a screenplay and Neil rewrote it. The only horror scene Bruce wrote was the husbane eaten by the dog. (from "SMOKING IN BED") If Bruce had not written the screenplay, I'd never have seen the movie because I don't like horror things..... |
