| THE BRUTE (Region 1, no subtitles)  This movie is about domestic violence from husband to his wife. Diane is a fashion model, she and her husband Teddy had a well-to-do family. One night Teddy whipped Diane during she slept, she ran away to her friend who is a stylist and lives with her boyfriend (photographer). Diane tried to repair the relationship, but Teedy's violation was getting worse and he was almost branding Diane. She branded on his foot instead, ran away and called police. Teddy hid the brand and pretended to be fine. At her friend's apartment Diane met a lady who also had domestic violence from her husband. The lady and her child went home when her husband met them, after all the lady ran to a shelter with her child. Her friends at the shelter prevent him from his family, she started sharing an apartment with Diane. The stylist (Diane's friend) kicked him out when he tried to sneak into the apartment. On the way back home from school of her little son, she was followed by Teddy's car at full speed. After she hid from the car chase, she started searching for "evidence" to get divorced. Divers found the brand together with Teddy's trousers which he wore when she branded..... |
I really wonder why the photographer (Mr. Robinson) should be in this movie? Diane is a fashion model and it's natural there's a photographer, but he sneaked into Diane's bed, drove her to a farm by a sports car which they used for photo session and pushed her over - the director wanted to describe how charming Diane is? And his girlfriend (a stylist who is a friend of Diane) knew what happened to her boyfriend and Diane though, she still kept supprting Diane, I'm really wondering! |
